Harland & Wolff Heavy Industries is a heavy industrial company, specialising in ship repair, conversion, and offshore construction, located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Harland & Wolff is famous for having built the majority of the ships intended for the White Star Line. Well known ships built by Harland & Wolff include the Olympic-class trio: RMS Titanic, RMS Olympic and RMS Britannic, the Royal Navy’s HMS Belfast.

Working safely at height
Harland & Wolff have been commissioned with the mammoth task of inspecting and repairing a vast number of offshore rigs which have been brought back to shore at Harland & Wolff’s Belfast Dock.
The job ran for two months and demanded the use of 7 access platform machines at any one time.
Each machine hoisted a specialist engineer 230ft in to the air for at least 10hrs per day to enable the skilled, fearless expert to examine each weld joint and carryout any repairs necessary before the rig is signed off and taken back to sea to be erected.
