Background

The Quadrant, Milton Keynes has 37,000 square metres of space and houses Network Rail’s headquarters. The building was constructed in 2012 and has a striking atrium with over-bridges, along with several cafeteria areas and a dine in-restaurant.

Customer Challenge

NSS were contacted via Mitie to replace a piece of glass located on the main glazed wall system to the exterior of the building. The requirement was for our specialist maintenance teams to attend site twice – one to confirm the measurements of the damaged DGU and one to conduct the works.

The Solution

NSS used a spider crane and the client’s spider MEWP to access and remove capping beads from the damaged unit.

Maintenance team to attended site and carry out the following works:

  • Supply of 23m Spider MEWP with IPAF trained operative Tuepen Leo spider 23
  • Supply of spider crane for safe movement of glass
  • Supply of working at heights trained operatives.
  • Supply of barriers to cordon off working area.
  • Supply of SSSTS trained Glazing Supervisor

The glazing units were cleaned upon completion with black mastic sealant applied around each unit. All work related waste was removed from site, leaving the area clear and tidy.
