Tapi Carpets is a leading flooring retailer with a nationwide portfolio of stores. Protecting stock, ensuring customer safety, and keeping sites operational is critical. To maintain the integrity of one of their retail properties, Tapi engaged NSS Maintenance to deliver a comprehensive programme of planned roof maintenance and repairs.
Customer Challenge
The site had multiple issues that posed a risk of leaks and deterioration, including:
• Corrosion to roof edges and vulnerable joints
• Blocked gutters, failed outlets, and poor water flow
• Historic repair failures causing vegetation growth and trapped moisture
• Ageing fixings and stitchers across large roof areas
• Areas around rooflights, vents, and AC units prone to water ingress
Tapi required a professional, long-lasting solution to safeguard the building and avoid costly disruption.

The Solution
NSS deployed a specialist roofing team to execute a structured programme of works, beginning with safe access and setup using scaffolding and MEWPs to ensure full compliance and minimal disruption. The team performed thorough gutter and outlet clearance, followed by water flow testing to confirm that all drainage paths were completely free-flowing.
To reinforce at-risk areas, the team treated corrosion through grinding, priming, and lap-edge waterproofing. This was supported by an extensive renewal of over 2,000 stitchers and fixings across the rear, main, and front elevations. Liquid waterproofing was strategically applied around vents, rooflights, and previously failed repair areas, while approximately 30 meters of ridge flashing and three joining flashings were replaced entirely.
The process also included pressure washing all roof elevations to remove debris without compromising the integrity of the roof sheets. To provide a permanent seal, the team performed a full gutter encapsulation using a multi-stage primer, detailer, and topcoat system. The project concluded with final inspections and a complete site clean-down, leaving the facility safe, tidy, and fully compliant.
Project outcomes
The intervention successfully restored watertight performance across the entire roof, effectively eliminating historic problem areas and drainage failures. By improving the building’s ability to withstand harsh winter weather, the project significantly reduced the risk of operational downtime and potential stock damage.
These preventative measures have extended the overall lifespan of the roof, providing Tapi Carpets with a safe, resilient, and fully compliant system ready for the seasons ahead.
