Relishing the chance to create, construct and develop

New business development manager, Ian Whilby, shares why he’s proud to have joined the High Access team…

Albert P. Sloane, the famed CEO of General Motors, once said:

the greatest real thrill that life offers is to create, to construct, to develop something useful.

It’s a view that sums up my thought process in joining High Access (part of the NSS Group), and why I’m thrilled to be part of the new business team.

Identifying a company’s true USP can sometimes be difficult amid the chatter of brands competing for the attention of overwhelmed customers. However, at High Access, our value proposition is very clear, whether for businesses or facilities management companies.

As the UK’s largest reactive maintenance specialist working at height, we have the in-house resources to reach and repair the most inaccessible property locations throughout the country. Our extensive nationwide fleet of truck-mounted elevating work platforms, enable us to  reach up to 70 meters – or 22 stories – guarantee this.

One of the many factors that sets us apart is the expertise we offer – each of our machines is manned by a two-man team of highly-qualified tradesmen with a multitude of skills.  From glazing repairs to roof maintenance, gutter cleaning and repair, and all building façade maintenance in between, our team can assess buildings in their entirety instead of separate parts in isolation. This, in addition to our IRATA trained rope access teams, allows us to offer clients a superior solution.

Our business was born out of the imagination of one man who, like Sloane, sought to provide a real point of difference to meet customers’ needs. After just a short period working within the industry, it became clear that clients were forced into dealing with maintenance and issues in silos – racking up management hours and costs.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones. Ask any estate manager and they will tell you that the ability to go to a one-stop provider in order to repair the external fabric of a building can deliver huge savings on any property portfolio.

I’m pleased to represent a business that sets out every day to be the very best in its industry – both in delivering a commercial return as well as being socially responsible.

High Access is now part of NSS, providing building maintenance, window and technical cleaning, platform hire and equipment testing for an altogether better service.
